My mother used to say when we were young, that while there were unexpected guests, there were no unexpected hostesses. We should keep our house clean and tidy at all times so that we wouldn't be caught by unexpected guests. It was most impolite to tidy our rooms and clean our selves in their presence.
Even now, I remember that lesson. I have to be prepared all the time for unexpected demands, accidents and disappointments so that I can always feel relaxed and happy
